What is a Mortice Deadlock? A Mortice Deadlock is a type of lock that fits a wooden door it is operated by a Key on both sides of the door and does not have handles. How a Mortice Deadlock locks is via a locking action by a bolt that shoots accross when the key is turned and this bolt fits into the Strike Plate which is built into the doorframe. The Bolt can not be Pushed or pulled back making the Deadlock one of the most secure locks on the market. This type of lock would be used as a secondary device in addition to a lock with a latch action.
